How Revolve Designs Solar Systems in 3D

See how Revolve uses property-specific 3D roof modelling, shade context, sun-path analysis and panel layout to design Northland solar systems.

Revolve does not design solar by simply drawing rectangles over a satellite image. For suitable projects we build a digital model of the property so roof geometry, panel placement, surrounding shade and system layout can be considered together.

Why model the roof in 3D?

A roof can look simple from the street but still contain multiple pitches, hips, valleys, vents, chimneys, shade sources and access constraints. A digital model helps us understand the usable solar area before recommending a system size.

Roof geometry and measurements

We map the roof faces and measurements that influence panel placement. This helps identify which areas are practical, how many panels can fit cleanly and where walkways or equipment clearances may need to be preserved.

Trees and shade matter

Nearby vegetation and buildings can affect solar access. We model relevant shade sources so the panel layout can be considered in context rather than assuming every square metre of roof performs the same way.

Sun-path and solar-access analysis

The model can also show how the sun moves across the property and where surrounding objects may influence usable solar areas. The purpose is not to produce a flashy image; it is to make a better system decision.

Panel layout comes after the site model

Once the roof and site are understood, we can test proposed panel locations against the household's electricity use, equipment architecture and battery goals. That is more useful than starting with a fixed panel count and trying to make the property fit the package.

AC or DC/hybrid?

The digital design process supports both Enphase AC microinverter systems and Sigenergy hybrid solar-and-battery systems. The right architecture depends on the roof, storage needs, backup goals and future expansion.

How this fits into your assessment

The modelling process begins after we have enough property and electricity-use information to make the design meaningful. Start with our free 5-minute solar assessment, or explore the full Solar Info & Tools hub.
